Transfer Tyrese Martin receives NCAA waiver, eligible to play for UConn men in 2020-21

“I wasn’t hurt,” Martin said, when he chose UConn in April. “I knew it was business. But I also was recruited by Coach Cox, and he’s my guy. So I figured I would stick with him and Rhode Island. … The only way I would leave Rhode Island, if I was to leave, was for an elite program like UConn. The things that UConn has, the pros that come out of there, the championships, those are big to turn down. The University of Rhode Island is great place to be, it’s a great program, but UConn is an elite program.””
