Glastonbury police union, motivated by new state law, endorses Republican state candidate

The most controversial part of the bill, concerning whether police can suffer personal financial damages in civil lawsuits, does not become effective until July 1, 2021. In the meantime, the Police Officers Association of Connecticut, an advocacy group focused on legislation, is pressing the General Assembly to revise the law during a special session this month. Senate and House leaders said they are open to changes, but not a wholesale rewrite of the complex, 71-page bill.
