Commentary: ‘Tenet,’ the movie America didn’t deserve to see first, ushers in a nervous new multiplex era

Nolan’s latest high-stakes Warner Bros. gamble is now scheduled for a Sept. 3 U.S. release. Where, exactly, and how widely within our 50 states, we don’t know. Earlier this week, Warners announced the probable Aug. 26-28 release of “Tenet” in dozens of countries, from Canada to England to Australia to Taiwan to Nigeria, preceding its availability in America, state and city COVID-19 regulations permitting.
