Alterique Gilbert ‘owns his moment,’ and other takeaways from the UConn men’s first-ever win at Tulsa

The Huskies had never won at Tulsa, going 0-for-5 in the Reynolds Center after the Golden Hurricane joined the conference in 2014. They were 0-5 on the road this year, and Tulsa 11-1 at home. When a team loses so many close, hard-fought games, it often crumbles and slides backward. This team, whatever its flaws, kept at it, kept doing the things to stay in games and finally rewarded itself by doing the things to get over the top – in Tulsa, of all places. This, of course, will probably be UConn’s last win there, also.
