State plans $750,000 in pollution controls, improvements at 5 former Connecticut landfills

The Hartford landfill near the Connecticut River in the northern part of the city was once operated by the former CRRA, which was replaced by the Materials Innovation and Recycling Authority. After the landfill closed, the state became responsible for monitoring and controlling pollution from the dump. The solar array on top of the capped landfill was installed after it was closed.
