R.J. Cole can’t play for UConn men yet, but he’s helping Huskies prepare for opponents like NJIT, Zach Cooks

The Highlanders also have Shyquan Gibbs, 6-1, who played with Cole, for Bob Hurley Sr., on a state championship team at St. Anthony’s in Jersey City. Gibbs, averaging 7.8 points, scored 14 in recent games against UMass-Lowell and St. Francis. Souleymane Diakite, 6-9, is NJIT’s rebounder, 9.1 per game. Byron Breland III, from Hillhouse-New Haven and Hamden Hall, has broken into the lineup as a freshman.
