Connecticut sports decade in review: UConn men’s basketball continued collecting titles as the 2010s began, but by mid-decade trouble was brewing

Then came more magic. Shabazz Napier, 18.0 points, 4.9 rebounds, 5.9 rebounds, was carrying UConn, as typified by his signature, game-winning shot against Florida at a delirious Gampel Pavilion on Dec. 2, 2013. In March, No. 7 UConn knocked off a series of higher seeds, including Florida again, and Kentucky to win the 2014 championship. That made it four titles in 15 years, and there seemed little doubt the UConn brand would endure, with the dreaded coaching transition and NCAA problems overcome and in the rearview mirror.
